Kameleon

Kameleon is an integrated business operations management system based upon 'agile management' methodologies. Since 1996 Kameleon has helped clients to improve business management, maximize operational efficiencies and effectiveness, significantly reduce costs, increase competitive advantages, and gain industry accreditations.

The Market

In 1993, it was identified that existing systems did not support the operational management requirements of small-to-medium sized enterprises (SMEs). Since that time alternate system developers have tried to increase capabilities of smaller systems or shrink the complexity of larger systems to fill the niche. Such systems must by nature be a compromise. Very few applications have been specifically developed to suit.

Kameleon has been designed from conception to suit SME specific requirements and continues to be optimised for that purpose. It is continually being improved in capabilities and usability, implementing the latest practical principles and technologies without becoming overly complex and restrictive.

Kameleon overview

Kameleon supports improved business efficiency and effectiveness through the implementation of innovative management principles. Alternate management systems dictate how a business must operate. Kameleon provides a supportive environment in which the client can continually improve their business operations and optimise their competitive advantages with significantly reduced risk.

Kameleon integrates so seamlessly into a client's organisation that it is even re-titled to appear as though it has been custom written by the client. It was designed from the outset to support the most difficult regulatory requirements without compromising ease of use. It combines traditional management activities, such as Customer Relations Management (CRM), Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), within a single user-friendly interface designed specifically to suit SME clients.

Combined with process management software, such as 4TQ, Kameleon can provide complete business structuring and operational management from mission statement to workshop floor work instructions. It supports Business Process Engineering (BPE) and Continual Process Improvement (CPI) management activities. It was determined that alternate systems, using accepted traditional methodologies, do and will not provide the managerial support and responsiveness that business managers require now and in the future. Kameleon does not rely upon embedded business processes but allows the client to infinitely customize business operations within an integrated, structured, and stable environment.

In all organisations, the biggest productivity gains are to be made through the optimization of core business processes, the reduction of management handoffs between processes and the minimization, or preferably elimination, of management overheads.

Value-adding, revenue-raising, business processes are and should be the highest priority but supporting processes are no less important. Supporting business management activities such as financial, inventory, equipment and tooling, documentation, training, etc have been developed to fully and seamlessly support core revenue generating business activities.

Where Kameleon fits

Kameleon has been designed as a tool to automate business operations and support management decisions. Its functionality complements business process management software packages (such as 4TQ) providing a complete, integrated business management environment. Clients have complete control over the scope of application.

Return on investment

Acquiring a management system is a major capital investment. The data recorded, the information compiled and the corporate knowledge gained are also assets that should produce on-going returns on the effort invested.

The implementation of Kameleon provides clients with a exceptional return-on-investment (ROI). It not only provides immediate quantifiable savings in manpower and costs but produces indirect benefits in quality, effectiveness, and accountability. Its implementation has been designed to provide a realistic breakeven point unlike many alternate systems.

Client site implementations have been installed and users operational within hours, and sites requiring complex work management fully operational within weeks. Kameleon has been proven to:

  • Reduce fleet (aircraft) maintenance/repair/overhaul (MRO) servicing (TMS) times. Savings of more than 30% for overhaul activities over alternate systems.
  • Reduce manpower requirements.
  • Reduce inventory and costs.
  • Reduce waste and rework.
  • Reduce management overheads and compromises.
  • Maximize accountability and reduce risk.
  • Improve operational efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Maximize competitive advantages and minimize deficiencies.
  • Support multiple industry accreditations.

Kameleon also provides an additional on-going ROI that alternate systems cannot. By providing clients with the flexibility to modify their own management processes without additional support or training, and with minimal cost and risk, Kameleon continues to produce increased savings long after initial implementation break-even.
